Marjorie Shaevitz

Marjorie Hansen Shaevitz is Founder and Director of adMISSION POSSIBLE®, an admissions counseling program that began in 1996 and website that was launched in 2007. She is an award-winning author, speaker and professional counselor who has successfully helped thousands of students select and get admitted to colleges.

Marjorie is a member of the National Association for College Admission Counseling (NACAC) and a former member of the Stanford University’s Parents’ Board and Chair of the Advisory Council for Stanford’s Institute for Women & Gender. She also spent twelve years as a trustee for La Jolla Country Day School. After completing a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology at Stanford University, she was the Orientation Officer at the East West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, an education/research association that strengthens relations among peoples of Asia, the Pacific and the United States. She then returned to Stanford as a member of the Dean of Students Office. Later she directed the Re-entry Program at the University of California, San Diego and co-authored the McGraw-Hill book So You Want to Go Back to School.

Author of the best-selling books, The Confident Woman (Harmony/Random House) and The Superwoman Syndrome (Warner Books), Marjorie has just completed adMISSION POSSIBLE®:  Getting Into the College of Your Choice, a series of admissions guides for high school students.

JONATHON DAVID SHAEVITZ

Jonathon Shaevitz

Jonathon Shaevitz holds a B.S. from the University of Michigan and MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania. He has been the dynamic force behind the launching of the admissionpossible.com website with all of its Internet resources and social networking connections. Through his Capital Strategies group, Jonathon provides planning, consulting and advisory services to organizations wanting a clear, effective and exciting presence in the online world.

In addition, Shaevitz provides coaching and consulting to organizations and individuals looking to excel in their chosen fields. He also spends extracurricular time working with student organizations at such college campuses as Columbia University, University of Michigan, Brown University, Northwestern University and all of the City Universities of New York.

One of Jonathon’s current projects is developing an international MBA admissions service, based on his student and alumni involvement with the Wharton School and family interest in college admissions.

AMY J. AHLFELD,

Sacramento, California

Amy Ahlfeld has a B.A. in Psychology and Women’s Studies from the University of Michigan and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Alliant International University in San Diego, California. She has a long history in education, having taught school in the Los Angeles Unified School District and serving as a Program Director for Teach For America in Chicago, Illinois. She has extensive experience working with adolescents, ethnic minorities and bilingual and bicultural students. Amy joined the adMISSION POSSIBLE® staff in 2007 and is a contributor to the new adMISSIONPOSSIBLE.com website.

CHRISTOPHER RUIZ DE ESPARZA,

Eugene, Oregon

Chris received his B.A. from Stanford University in 1996 and a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 2001. He is currently completing a Ph.D. from that institution, focusing on First Generation college students. Chris has worked at counseling offices at UCSB and the University of Utah, as well as serving as a diversity and content consultant for adMISSION POSSIBLE®. Currently, he is a senior staff counselor at the University of Oregon Counseling & Testing Center. Chris has worked with high school students seeking admissions to college, college and re-entry students seeking admission to college, internships, graduate schools, and undergraduate and graduate students seeking careers.

MAREJKA HANSEN SHAEVITZ

Eugene, Oregon

Marejka Hansen Shaevitz brings six years of admissions counseling experience to adMISSION POSSIBLE®. She specializes in helping students identify their strengths, create dynamic activities resumes, and learn how to write creative, interesting, and effective admissions essays based on who they are as students and people.

Marejka is a Magna Cum Laude graduate from Stanford University with a B.S. in Biology, and is currently completing her M.S. in Clinical Health Psychology from the University of Utah. Counseling and coaching students about admissions issues primarily in Oregon, she also works with students and families throughout the country via phone and email.

MORTON H. SHAEVITZ

La Jolla, California

Dr. Morton H. Shaevitz received his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of California, Los Angeles.  Early in his career, he specialized in the areas of student counseling and mental health.  He was a staff member of the UCLA Counseling Center, Associate Director of Counseling Services at the University of Michigan, and Dean and Director of Counseling and Psychological Services at the University of California, San Diego. During that time, he counseled thousands of students and came to understand the importance of students choosing colleges and universities that “best fit” them. Currently he serves as a consultant to adMISSIONPOSSIBLE.com.
