I. Summer College Programs for High School Students
Many colleges offer summer programs for high school students that are not only academically rich, but fun as well. The range of courses includes traditional offerings such as Western Civilization and Creative Writing, as well as career-oriented courses such the NYU Tisch School Summer High School, Washington University’s Architecture Discovery course, and Case Western Reserve University’s Equinox Program.

FAQ #4: I’m having difficulty deciding which AP classes to take. Is there such a thing as better or worse AP classes?

ANSWER: This question brings up something about which many students are unaware: the relative worth college admissions offices give to certain AP classes. As strange as it may seem, the following four courses are considered “AP-Lite” by many colleges: AP Statistics, AP Geography, AP Psychology, and AP Environmental Science. In other words, they are valued less than other AP courses.

Bottom Line: Any AP course is probably going to be more impressive than a regular course. However, it is also important that you take courses that you find intellectually interesting and challenging, AP or not.
