College essays are one of the most important ways that students can reveal their hearts and minds, something that admissions officers want to see. Students who take the time to write an original, thoughtful essay that reveals something about themselves really enhance their admissions possibilities.
FAQ #2: Some of my friends are buying application essays from websites that guarantee to bring them application success. What do you think?
ANSWER: For personal, moral and ethical reasons don’t do it. Application essays are supposed to be by and about you (not by a website, your parents, an older sibling, or a paid gun). And if you should go that road and be found out, your reputation with colleges (and possibly future employers) will be compromised forever.
ENDNOTE
Application essays are the most powerful tool for letting colleges know who you are as a person and student. They offer you a unique opportunity to show your good writing skills, how well you think and even your sense of humor.
